WUPS Super Stars
Sonny Coppleman - The Year 3-6 team are celebrating writing each month with a Writer of the Month. This month Sonny is the Writer of October with his poem Hello, Goodbye. Sonny has shown Courage this year with his writing by trying new ways of writing. I am sure you will enjoy his poem as much as I did.
Kendell competed in the North West Marathon held at Ulverstone Surf Life Saving Club on Saturday 22 October. Kendell took part in the 2km board course. While there was a bigger surf wave on at Ulverstone and an eastly wind, which made for tricky conditions, Kendell achieved 3rd place in her age group. Kendell has been training very hard during the winter ready for the summer competitions.
WUPS Teachers - Our teachers have shown great resilience during challenging times, all so they can give Australian students the best future possible.
Hats off to teachers this World Teachers’ Day!
Share your “hats off” selfie to celebrate teachers and tell us what they mean to you.
We are encouraging students, their families and the community to celebrate teachers. What do teachers mean to you?
On Friday 28 October, you can show your appreciation to teachers by posting a “hats off” selfie on social media, either on your own or with family or friends. Use these tags: #WTD2022 @aitsl
Sharon Guard for the amazing effort organising our book fair. Thank you so much for organising this event for the benefit of our school community.Making every school day count
Welcome back to the last term of the school year! We’re excited for what’s in store, including Whole School Excursions, Dress up days, Discos, Athletics Carnival, Colour Run, and amazing learning in classrooms. This final stretch of the school year can sometimes be challenging to get your kids to school. But being at school is the best place for our kids, and it’s important we make every school day count.
If you’re struggling to get your child to school, help is available. Please talk to us at school about your situation. We’ll support you, in whatever way we can.
Here are some tips to help:
- Create a routine.
- Give yourself enough time in the morning.
- Be on time, every day. Monday to Friday.
- Schedule appointments and trips outside of school hours.
- Get a good night’s sleep.
- Set some technology boundaries.
If your child is well enough to attend school, they should be at school. Every day, Monday to Friday.
Data tells us that the better a child’s attendance rate, the better off they’ll be. Their future will be filled with more opportunities…. which is what every parent and carer wants for their child.
School is where they learn and grow alongside their friends, and where they benefit the most. Going to school not only promotes academic success, but also helps build important social skills, relationships and confidence.
Again, please talk to us about your situation if you’re having trouble getting your child to school every day.

Hello, Goodbye Poems
In 3/4A we said hello to term 4 and goodbye to the holidays by writing poems. In our poems, we thought about the things that we would miss about the holidays, such as sleeping in and we considered the things that we had to look forward to in term 4. There is a lot to look forward to this term, including new learning, beautiful spring weather (which we’re still waiting for!) and end of year celebrations.
Ella 1/2A
Ella had done some amazing rhyme writing today. Well done!
Tilly
For demonstrating a deep understanding of multiplication!
Layton has used his knowledge of sight words to write ‘it’, ‘is’, and ‘a’ independently. Well done.
In Kinder we have been discussing the value of Growth as we complete the second Kindergarten Development Check (KDC). We have enjoyed celebrating each student’s individual progress and achievements with them. Here are some achievements we feel proud of
Tilly – “I’m proud of my learning about numbers”
Aliza – “Push myself on the swings”
Hugo – “I can count high!”
Alexia – “Learn to write my name”
Abigail – “Learning to write with words and pictures”
Piper – “Practiced hopping and catching and now it is easy”
This week Prep students were very excited for our first excursion. We visited Hive Tasmania to explore the science centre and museum before going to ANZAC Park for a play and lunch. Students had a fantastic time at the science centre, with lots of hands on activities such as testing cars on the race track, making paper planes and setting up a large ball run with pipes. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to participate in the art workshop we had planned but we still had an amazing time. The big slide at ANZAC Park was another highlight for many!
