What an amazing year we have had in 1-2A! It has been wonderful watching each and every student learn and grow throughout 2022. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to get to know you all and appreciate the ways that you have supported me in being able to educate this group of young people. I wish you all a safe and relaxing Christmas break and look forward to seeing you all in the new year.
2022 has been a wonderful year in 1 2 B.
When I think back to term 1 week 1, I feel immensely proud of how our learners have demonstrated our school value of growth.
Term four, in particular, has been extremely busy and rewarding. We recently went on an excursion with our buddy class, 4/5/6 A and celebrated the year with some fun and lunch at ANZAC Park. It was a wonderful afternoon, and all students were showing all our school values on this excursion.
It is important as we head into the busy Christmas period, we can all take a moment to pause and celebrate the achievements of the 1/2 B students over this year. I wish you all the best over the summer break and look forward to watching our students continue to grow as 2023 commences.

We look forward to continuing our learning journey in 2023…after a well-earned holiday. Best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season, from 3/4A.
We have finally come to the end of another action-packed year full of successes and triumphs. Students in 4/5/6G have had to be resilient, positive and understanding in a year full of staffing changes, building sites and new students, and they’ve done so with flying colours.
We would like to thank all of the parents, grandparents, carers and friends who have helped each of us to be successful this year. We have had a great year, but it wouldn’t have been possible without all of you supporting us. We are looking forward to the holidays and can’t wait to see what next year brings and where it might take us. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
Much Love, 4/5/6A
Class Focus - Health and Physical Education
A number of our students represented WUPS in after school sport programs this year. After school sport programs are offered every term. We had students participate in cricket and netball during term 4. These students had the opportunity to make friends and compete against students from other local primary schools. Our students presented great teamwork and sportsmanship while competing. Congratulations to the students who represented our school with pride. Returning 2023 students, if after school sports interests you, please keep your ears out for what sports may be offered in term 1, 2023.
At West Ulverstone Primary School in 2022 we have had an amazing time learning and doing Drama.
The students in Grade 1 and 2 have engaged in Drama through purposeful and creative play in structured activities which have fostered a keen sense of wellbeing and has developed their connection and contribution to the world we live in.
In Grade 3/4 the students focus has been on awareness of themselves and others as audiences within the class situation which has extended beyond the classroom to the broader school context. The students have extended their understanding of role and situation as they offer, accept, and extend their ideas in improvisation. They have had opportunity to gain experience about varying their voice and movement to create role when devising drama. They learned about focus, tension, space, and time in their own and others’ drama space. They had the opportunity to explore meaning and interpretation, forms and elements including voice, movement, situation, time and place, and tension as they make and respond to drama. In the later part of the year, they learned how to use language and ideas to shape dramatic action and how to use story structures to shape drama for audiences. They performed Little Red Riding Hood, the twisted tale, in class time in 4th term.
In Grade 5/6 the students focus has been to develop an understanding of character through voice and movement. They have achieved this through extending their understanding and use of situation, focus, tension, space, and time. The students have had the opportunity to write their own scripts, direct the classroom show and to collaborate with other students within the class. They have had the opportunity to extend their understanding and use language and ideas to create dramatic action and consider mood and atmosphere in performance. They have used conventions of story and other devices such as costumes and props to communicate meaning and shape and sustain drama for audiences. They have had the chance to explore meaning and interpretation of drama, and script writing, and other forms and elements including voice, movement, situation, space and time, and tension as they make and respond to drama. They performed Shrek, the twisted tale, and Charlie and the chocolate Factory, the twisted tale, in class time in 4th term.
It has been a busy year teaching Drama with the students of West Ulverstone Primary School. It has been a pleasure being part West Ulverstone Primary School in 2022 and experiencing the wonderful talent of the students. Both the students and I have had a thoroughly enjoyable year.
Thank you
Glynis Martin
Drama teacher 2022
We are very fortunate here at WUPS to have close access to the wonderful New Morning’s Garden in Amherst Street. The amazing Kathy Cotton provides support to our Hands on Learning group on a Wednesday with Sue Haywood.
Students are offered the opportunity to visit in small groups at various times and Leanne our chaplain also takes groups during lunch time. Benny and Ella are also currently working with Taryna to finish the mural started last year by some of the year 6 students. Next year we are looking to have class visits again and I know our students can’t wait to see the tadpoles and help out with the chooks. Students enjoy being able to get out into nature, learn some gardening skills and also have the time to reflect in the outdoors.
We thank New Mornings for the opportunity to build these connections with the community. Also a heartfelt thanks to Kathy and the other volunteers for all their work to provide such a welcoming and engaging space.
LiL
What an incredible year we have had in Launch into Learning! We have welcomed many new and returning families into our space through our Pre-Kinder, Gross Motor and Wednesday Playgroup Sessions. It has been a privilege to share time with all of our families this year and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2023.
