Newsletter Term 2 Week 10
I have loved seeing everybody’s smiles this fortnight as they have been telling me how much they loved the water and safety program. This program helps to show students how to be safe in the water.
It has been fantastic seeing our families come to school last week for our parent engagement meetings. Our teachers have really enjoyed being able to share the learning of your children and celebrate their successes. If you did not manage to see your teacher please reach out to find a time to catch up in the near future.
I always enjoy watching our students shine at our assemblies and our last assembly was no exception. Congratulations to all students who presented work and received awards. Thank you to all students and staff who put in so much effort to make our assemblies a great celebration. All students who receive an art award has their artwork displayed at the front office and turned into postcards. Please take the time to pop into the office to look at our amazing art gallery.
Our connection with East Ulverstone Primary School continued recently with staff participating in Berry Street Education Model Professional Learning. Staff were learning about the importance of being aware of ourselves and our bodies and learning about mindfulness. Your child may have opportunities to reflect on their self-awareness in the coming weeks. Our staff will continue working on this important wellbeing strategy on the professional learning day next term.
Two of our classes have been fortunate to have student teachers working in their classes this year. Recently we said goodbye to Miss Georgia McKay (working in Mr French’s class) and Miss Jemma Riedel (working in Miss Cox’s class). Both teachers will come back to visit at some stage and we wish them well in the education journey.
Our students loved having crazy hair and hot dog day as well as Footy Colours Day. I particularly loved seeing the effort our families went to with making their child’s hair look amazing. We saw sauce bottles, trees and octopus’ in hair just to name a few. The parade for the hair day was a lot of fun.
We have recently had our footy goals put back in on our school grounds. Our students have been very excited for this to happen and have not missed an opportunity to go outside to kick the footy.
Our Minister for Education, Mr Roger Jaensch, came to visit the school two weeks ago. Cormac and Michael showed the Minister around and I was extremely proud of how well they shared the ways our school works with him.
Our AV room has now been re-named. Natalia’s name was chosen and we will now know the room as ‘Read and Relax’ room.
Mrs Shannon Goodwin has been notified that she has been the successful applicant as Acting Principal as Sassafras Primary School. She began her role on Monday and the appointment is for term 3. Congratulation Mrs Goodwin and we wish you well at your new school.
Mrs Coates will be taking Long Service Leave for the first four weeks of term 3. Mrs Haywood, Mrs Catlin and Mr MrGregor will share the role. All three teachers are familiar with the class.
Today is our final day of Term 2. I wish you a wonderful and restful holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone back at the beginning of Term 3. Term 3 begins on Tuesday, 25 July.
Yours in Partnership,
Sarah Crawford
Principal
